All the benefits of an LMA, but none of the negatives
The Laryngeal Oral Airway
LOA
The LOA is an airway designed specifically to be used for IV sedation cases. The LOA is placed at induction of sedation to maintain the airway, provide oxygen delivery, and provide accurate capnography. IV sedation cases across many specialties such as ENT cases, Plastic cases, Gastroenterology procedures, etc require sedation to make the patient comfortable and not have recollection during the procedure. This sedation requires a method to safely maintain the patient’s airway while providing successful oxygen delivery and accurate capnography. The LOA provides excellent airway maintenance, oxygen delivery, accurate capnography without any of the negatives of using a LMA or general anesthesia.
